Surgical Options for Scar Elimination

by Grace Empson

Even thinking about surgery can be frightening. Having major surgery in order to alleviate acne scars is the last alternative for people affected by damaged tissues and ice pick acne scars.

The issue becomes- how stressed and troubled are you by your acne scars? If you care about your skin, acne scars are obviously going to bother you. Are you getting to the point where you feel so uncomfortable walking around in the street with blemishes that you feel the need to undergo a painful surgery to cure them?

There are extremely few acne scar treatments available that cure the worst type of scarring, the ice pick acne scar. Because such scars appear to be made by someone stabbing your face with a sharp instrument, they are commonly the most psychologically harmful scars to deal with. The reason they don't react to common scar treatments is because they need an ingredient that stimulates the formation of collagen and elastin in the skin.

Scar removal is turning more and more possible with the latest advancements in technology. Laser scar removal is now very common for patients with post inflammatory scarring and redness. Laser treatments improve mild to moderate acne scars but not seriously depressed acne scars, and they do not promote the rebuilding elements needed to fill in the holes. You will throw away hundreds of dollars on an acne scar treatment that won't help you.

Acne scarring treatment options

Fractional Resurfacing is one of the more recent advances in laser skin resurfacing. The method is similar to other technologies in the way that the laser heats the dermis and starts a cause and response. The non-invasive acne scarring treatment produces small treatment areas, permeating deep into the skin and leaving the surrounding skin unaffected and intact. This 'fractional' treatment allows the skin to cure much faster using the body's innate healing mechanism to make new, healthy, tighter tissue.

Anywhere from 13 to 20% of the area is alleviated, leaving a majority of the scar or damaged skin untreated, hence the term 'fractional resurfacing'. Only part of the skin is resurfaced at any one time. This facial acne scar treatment allows quick injury healing and a low possibility of complications. Post skin treatment side effects include a burning or tingling feeling. Other patients complain of swelling and hyperpigmentation. Treatments are commonly repeated every 14 days but must be repeated 4 to 5 times for best results, the problem being that 3 treatments cost about 1,000 dollars and each one after that is about $500.

There is an acne scar cure called punch excision that is used frequently to help alleviate severe acne scarring. Small surgical instruments are used to efficiently cut out the depressed holes and the injury is then sewn up and stitched. The curious aspect of this acne scar surgery is that you are just replacing one scar with another. This seems like an unproductive solution for acne scars, although it does seem to lessen the difficulties of living with severe acne scarring.

You can now get rid of scars and various kinds of skin aliments with the help of this acne scar solution made with natural ingredients that rejuvenate your skin without leaving unwanted side effects.
