Teenage Acne Treatment - Teen Acne Causes and Information

by Valerie Garner

The population most affected by acne is teenagers. Almost every teen in the world will experience at least one breakout of acne during their adolescence. The specific case and condition of acne depends on the individual, but most experience whiteheads, blackheads, and in more severe acne cases, cystic acne. Some teenagers also find themselves with body or back acne that often affects the back, chest, and shoulders. Fortunately there are a wide range of teenage acne treatments available that target teen acne and its relationship to hormonal changes.

Causes of Teenage Acne

During puberty, teenagers experience changes in their bodies as well as changes in hormone levels. These hormones can cause a myriad of effects, such as growth spurts, moodiness, body hair, as well as the heightened activity of various body glands. One of these glands, the sebaceous gland, produces sebum which is responsible for maintaining moisture in hair and skin. These glands get bigger and produce more sebum during adolescent hormone imbalance. Teenagers have higher risks of acne due to these factors of increased gland activity and elevated levels of sebum production.

Acne starts within these sebum glands when damage is done to healthy living cells. This damage is possible through the sheer force of sebum output, a common factor during adolescent hormonal change. Hardened sebum as well as oil and dead skin cells within the follicle can also damage living cells. The body's immune system responds with an inflammatory reaction which irritates the skin and causes what we know as pimples. Another factor may be hereditary as it has been found that those whose parents suffered from teen acne, or currently suffer from adult acne, are at higher risk for developing teenage acne.

Teenage Acne Treatment

There are numerous teenage acne treatments that include over-the-counter topical acne creams, medical prescriptions, daily cleansers and toners, as well as a variety of natural skin care options. Unfortunately there is no cure for acne and the success of skin care products really depends on each individual. However, the most important thing is to be knowledgeable about the process of acne and how to choose a product that will successfully treat its root causes, not just its symptoms. Severe medications are not necessary in treating teenage acne. In many cases, acne will improve naturally with the passing of puberty and balancing of hormone levels. Stay away from harsh treatments that can leave you with damaged skin cells long after acne recovery. Stick with more organic types of acne treatment cream that can address biological causes of acne and treat them naturally.

Skin Friendly Diet

Diet may also play a role in acne recovery. However, the common myth that acne results from eating chocolate or greasy foods is not true. The foods you eat will not lessen hormones imbalances nor sebum output. Nevertheless, your skin will be healthier if you make sure you eat right and get all the vitamins and nutrients your body needs. This is especially important during adolescence, as your body is growing and needs to be equipped with the vitamins needed to keep you energized and your immune system strong. Also, it is shown that those with healthy diets are less stressed and therefore less at risk for overactive glands and acne.

BIOSKINFORTE is just one of many Biocutis acne skin care products that biologically targets and treats the root causes of teen acne to start healing and acne prevention from below the skin's surface. BIOSKINFORTE boasts a biological Helix Aspersa Muller serum that is able to naturally inhibit sebum production, get rid of dead skin cells, and support the innate immune system at the site of cell injury to decrease bacteria and calm irritated skin. BIOSKINFORTE is the organic and successful answer to blackheads, whiteheads, and cystic acne due to changes in hormones during teenage years.
